it doesn't load saved games

hello i need help since yesterday I can't get into the saved games, it loads for hours and never gets in, I have to turn off the computer to get out. This started as soon as I downloaded the island living expansion pack. I have downloaded many cc mods and if I remove them from the mods folder the game plays fine. Does anyone know what I should do? is there somewhere to update mods??
