(MAC) CC/Mods crash game before launch

I recently decided I wanted to clean out my mods folder to get ride of broken cc. I took out the mods folder completely so I could start blank. But when I tried to launch with even only one piece of cc the game just crashed before it even fully launched. The game was working on launching but didn't even get to the start screen before crashing. I've tried this with multiple different files both cc and script mods one at a time but it just crashes each time. I can launch the game fine with an empty mods folder.

My Sims game is updated to the latest patch and I've tried to repair and let the game generate a new mods folder for me. I even deleted the localthucache but that didn't work either.

I don't know if this is a problem on my part or something that happened because of the latest patch. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Try this exact set of steps, please:

    1. Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop and rename it.
    2. Run a Game Repair in the EA App. (If you use Steam, the equivalent is Verify Integrity.)
    3. Launch Sims 4. You should get no list of mods on launch, and you should have no option to load a previous save. Reset your Options.
    4. Exit, then download a recent piece of CC from an established creator. (I usually pick a peacemaker furniture item for this.)
    5. Install that in your newly created Mods folder and test again.

I run my sims 4 folder through a usb by a symlink. It has worked before to run it like that with mods just not lately. Like I mentioned I can run the game just not with any mods at all so I don't think the symlink itself is broken.

    Is this what you mean?

    USB external physical volume • MS-DOS (FAT32)

It's the new one I got because my old one didn't have enough space.
