Some questions if it's okay.
1. What exactly is a resource?
2. What causes resource conflicts?
3. What problems/issues can they cause?
4. What is the fix for a resource conflict?
Now before you answer, I'm going to try to take a logical guess at these based on what little I know about the game.
1. A resource is some kind of container in the game that stores data.
2. A resource conflict is when a mod is accessing a resource that doesn't exactly match with the mod's. For example, a mod calls a resource that contains name and age but the mod resource doesn't contain the age field so they don't match.
3. I'm going to guess that the problems occur when the game tried to process a resource and doesn't have all the data it needs, thus causing some kind of an error.
4. The fix is for the mod creator to change the resource in his mod to match the resource in the game.
Is that pretty much it?

Yeah, I think that's it. I sent a message to the mod creator, waiting for his answer...

@stevenwagenheim Pretty much, yep! Thankfully, the modding community has developed tools that help identify what's new in the game each time and to help compare their mods with new code, and Maxis is really supportive with supplying the community with additional information that can't be extracted otherwise 🙂
- 2 years ago@luthienrising Thank you. One last quick question (for now anyway) As I said earlier, I'm a retired programmer. I ran the Better Exceptions mod compatibility report and I got a ton of tuning errors for a few mods that supposedly have been fixed, like LittleMsSams Better Nanny. I'm getting things like "expecting V but got L". I'm going to guess that these are variables data being passed and the wrong data is being passed. If this is the case, here's my question, just to test things out on my end.
If I go into Sims Studio and pull up these tuning files (I assume I'll find the offending code) and change the values to what the game is expecting, should that in theory fix the error? Naturally, I'll make a backup of the mod in question in case I totally render it unplayable.
Ultimately, I'm trying to fix some things on my own, if they appear to be simple fixes. As I know nothing about python, a lot of this may look like tossed salad to me but I'm willing to give it a shot.
Anyway, is my assessment of the tuning errors pretty much accurate?
Also, any advice or tips you can give me would greatly be appreciated.
I'm starting to think I should have never retired. I'm starting to miss this life.
PS - What will I have to learn to become a modder for the community and will I have to formally register with EA?
Thanks again for all your help. It is greatly appreciated.
