Thank you! Im back home from vacation so im going to try this! Hopefully it works! my main drive (C DRIVE) is sorta full so when im done checking, would it be okay to move it to another drive?

  • I'm running into the same storage issues. I use the mklink command to keep my Mods on my E: drive, but since today's update, the game isn't recognizing the linked folder at all. I've toggled the 'Enable Mods' setting multiple times with no luck. Does anyone know if the update disabled support for CMD-linked folders?

  • AwesomeHulkc4  Having a symbolic link for only the Mods folder has always been hit-or-miss, so I don't know that the issue is this update specifically.  Do some of your mods work if you remove the symlink and store them inside the Sims 4 folder?  You don't need to test with all your mods, just a few that have been updated for this patch.  If the mods don't work here either, the issue isn't the symlink.

If these mods work without a symlink in place, but you can't store everything where your user folder is currently located, then you'll need to create a symlink for the entire Sims 4 folder instead.

As for whether something about the update broke compatibility with symbolic links in general, I don't think so.  I've only seen one other person with an issue related to a junction or symlink, and it's not clear yet that the cause is the symlink itself.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have tested this extensively and can confirm that the issue is specific to the directory link. When I move a small batch of updated mods directly into a physical folder on my C: drive, they load perfectly. However, the moment I re-establish the mklink junction, the startup mod list appears completely empty.

My testing also confirms a change in how the game handles folder depth. Previously, script mods functioned at two levels deep and package files at five. Since the update, I've found that any mods placed beyond the second level—especially when accessed through a junction—are being ignored. To keep the game playable, I was forced to move my 100GB library back to my C: drive, leaving me with very little storage. I hope a future update restores the stability of linked folders, as it is essential for managing large, organized libraries without exhausting the system drive.
