Npcs wont get into generic lots buildings

I have a mod where u can have a business with a building but its strictly generic or else it wont work. I want to have clients and those are obviously npcs but i also heard that npcs dont go into generic buildings so how am i gonna get clients?? All the npcs do is just stand in the corner of the lot and its annoying.
