Isn't OP saying this is a bug instead of a feature?
Conversely, you need to suggest that a mod might be BROKEN causing accidental marriages, because OP knows she hasn't installed a mod that's supposed to cause this.
Personally, I saw this bug happen after sims make a phone call regarding trying for a(nother) baby, both women ended up with an extra spouse. I haven't yet found the cause of this bug, as that feature isn't important to me.
OP, did your other sim encourage these sims to have a new baby before their unexpected marriages?
I have no idea if they were encouraged or not, as I just detected suddenly that they were married also to townies, not only their ordinary spouses. I strongly suspect it was done by phone but of couse they could have met and decided to go ahead. I don't really know but I don't think it has happened again since I unticked romantic interactions. I just wish that the townies actively meet other townies but keep away from my sims romantically so that it would be possible to tick the romantic interactions again.
