Re: All of my mods and CC is suddenly broken

@c66axczx   Hello!  I'm sorry you're having trouble with your game.  Unfortunately, there is no way to repair broken CC.  You would need to find all the ones that are broken and look for updates, if available.  However, you may discover that some of the older CC may no longer be compatible with the game.  With so many CC, the best option is to use a 50/50 method for finding the broken ones.  It can be a bit of a tedious process but it will be worth it to fix your game.  Click the spoiler for steps to test your Mods and CC.

Spoiler

1. Create a new game for testing so that your current save is left unchanged until you've identified the problem mods/CC.

2. Create some folders on your desktop; perhaps one labeled "Tested Safe Mods-CC", another labeled "Mods-CC Needs Testing" and one more labeled "Broken Mods-CC" so you know which ones to check for updates.  This will keep tested mods/CC separated.

3. Exit the game if you haven't already, and divide your mods/CC in half; put one half in the Needs Testing folder and put/keep the other half into the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods folder.

4. Delete the localthumbcache.package file, located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game with the half you're testing,

5. If the game works with that half, exit the game, move that half to the Safe Mods-CC folder and move the remaining "Needs Testing" mods back to the Mods folder to test (Again, delete that cache file before opening the game.)

6. Once you know which half is causing the issue, divide those in half, keeping one half in the "Needs Testing" folder and one half in your Mods folder, and test again (delete the cache file each time after moving mods/CC and before opening the game) and moving mods/CC not causing problems into the Safe folder.

7. Repeat this process until you find all that are broken.

@c66axczx   Wonderful!  I'm glad you found the problem.  Would you mind sharing what you found?  It could be helpful for other users.  Thanks!  Happy Simming!

  • @JonaO703 i don't actually know what i did. i went into the game and checked the scriptmod in settings and then instead of moving the folders with all the files in them directly into the new mods folder i created new folders for CC and mods and moved the files one by one. i don't know if that's what helped but after a while it worked out.

@c66axczx   Thanks for sharing that!  So it's possible that the game was just having trouble reading your old folders?  Whatever the case, again, I'm glad you got it working! :-)
