Re: Game crashing, mod related

Also, I have Better Exceptions running in my game to try to help me determine the issue.  I have gotten this a couple times, but have no idea what it's talking about:

Exception Date: 2024-01-03 16:19:59Game Version: 1.103.315.1220-1.300.000.175.ReleaseCategory ID: career_base.py:4415
Recommended ActionMods were detected in the exception.
Close your game, try removing the mentioned mods below from your Mods folder and retry what you did when you received the exception.
If the exception does not occur then the problem is likely with that mod.
Check the mod download for any recent updates.
Possible Cause
(Confidence: 30%)
utilities\logging\version_handling.py\version_handling.py
ReasonException occurred while attempting to populate a repeated field: (AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'display_name')
MCCC Version2023.7.1
Mod Count53765 packages, 252 scripts

Also, in the Broken Mods section listed right underneath this, it says the following:

Each section contains a list of broken mods, if there are any. Check for updates for each. If no update is available or the update doesn't fix the exception, remove the mod.
If any mod file is part of a multi-part mod, you should update or remove all of it.
All paths are relative to the Mods folder.

Good news! No invalid tuning mods were found.

@AkennArt You've got a very high number of script mods there. Getting near and especially above 250 is known to cause problems. I'd advise paring down to what you're actually using, and check for duplicates in the process.

@luthienrising  Hey, I think that might have actually helped!  My game only crashed once while running an exceptions check, which is much better.  Thanks for that!  However, I'm struggling with extreme game lag.  When in Live mode and un-paused, it's so slow to the point where it doesn't play through some interactions/animations, but skips to the next one.  Also, the camera doesn't move smoothly at all in Live Mode.  Could that all be for the same reasons--scripts?  I just realized I have over 55K package files in my game (and now down to about 180 scripts).  Yikes.  However, my computer specs, I thought, are pretty good to be able to handle it.  Can the game itself only handle so big a Mods folder?  Guess I'm learning something new about this game...

@AkennArt It absolutely can be for the same reason. All these extra things the game is tracking can slow it down. But consider also factors like how many interactions you're lining up on how many Sims at once and how many interactable objects are on a lot. I've also been seeing a recent issue of the game suddenly creating dozens of new townies, and people have said deleting them helps with some lag. Turning online social features off in Options has also helped some people who were trying to play offline.

@luthienrising  The game creates an UNNECESSARY amount of townies lol and they all look ridiculous!  I wish the game would take into account the sims we make and not generate so many, for sake of performance.  I will be more diligent about deleting them and also try playing with the Options to see if that helps eliminate some of the lag.  And going forward create my own builds more often so I can control the number of interactable items on each lot.  Thanks again!
