Hi, not sure if I'm doing something wrong. I downloaded an apartment building from the gallery and I'm trying to assign rooms. The only options available are Shared and "1 The Summer House." When I hover over Create Units, it says "Existing unit has no rooms assigned - must assign a room before creating new units."
I have no idea what this means 😅 Can someone explain? Picture attached

How did you go to build to edit the lot? Did you go to build from the map, or did you go there directly from live mode?
To fully edit a residential rental lot, you need to go to the lot from the map. Also, the lot cannot be owned or have a tenant.
Otherwise, all you get access to when you try to change apartment boundaries is the current apartment you are in and shared. Just like your pic shows. You cannot edit any other apartments if you are either the landlord or a tenant.
Another thing that happens with residential rental builds is that if the original lot creator saved the lot to the Gallery by going to build from live mode with a sim on the lot, the lot can become uneditable. The only one that can fix it is the original creator.
Hope this helps.

Hi, thanks for the fast reply. I placed it in manage worlds from the gallery, then entered it via build more. No live mode, no tenants, no landlord.
So that means it's probably because the original creator went from live mode like you said? I hope EA changes that in the future so it's still editable 😅

Yeah, It sure sounds like that's the problem. Not really much you can do about it either. I've troubleshot several builds with the identical problem and have found no reliable way to make them work. There are a few things you can try and sometimes it works, most times not.
So, with the lot unowned and no tenants, you can try changing all the spaces to shared. Then change the venue to residential. Save the lot to your library. While still on the lot, replace the lot with the copy you just saved. Change the venue to residential rental. Then try to assign the space to apartments. Like I said, this might work or might not. Doing all this is basically an attempt to get the previous space assignments to reset. Another way to do it is after you save the lot to the library, bulldoze what is there. Save and quit to the Main Menu or exit the game. Then reload the save/start the game and load the save. Then go into the lot and download what you saved earlier. Change the venue and try to set up the apartments again and see if works. Again, it might work or might not.
Hope this helps.
