I tested this in a vanilla test game and both the chess table, and the card table worked correctly. I tried it both ways, placing the tables in build mode before I traveled there and then adding another of each after I got there by going to build, adding the tables and chair and going back to live. No problem. My test family was the Itos. I also tested this on their home lot, and everything also worked.
That leads me to think that you might have something in your mods folder that is causing your issue. So, try moving your mods folder to your desktop and try using the tables without any mods or CC in the game. If it still happens without your mods folder in, then try a game repair from the Origin or EA App. If the issue does go away without your mods folder in the game, then something in your mods folder is causing it and you will need to hunt whatever it is down and either update it or delete it. I would look first at anything you have that affects logic as that is the skill those tables give you when you play them.
