Oh my god thank you so much! I was about to delete everything and reinstall my game haha!

Thank you SO much for this info. I'd tried everything besides deleting the whole game.

I checked my Settings but it's grayed out and i can't open it. So there's no way to turn on my whims. Who would i talk to about that?

do you have a save game loaded ? Is the whim option grey or the gameplay options ?

It is a saved game, and the Gameplay Button in the Game Options is grayed out so i can't click it. I wanted to restore my Sims Whims since it's been disabled but now i can't. Also, i'm not sure if this is relevant, the buttons for Seasons and Get Famous are also grayed out as well.

Try loading your household and go to the options from there.

It would have been nice for EA to tell us somehow that Whims are now an option that we need to turn on.  I've missed having them in the game and would have had no idea to check the game settings for them.

Totally see where you're coming from

There was a note in the patch notes but if you missed those, you missed the change (and it also doesn't tell you it's now off by default)

Whim Updates

There’s a new “Show Whims” option in the Gameplay Options menu that allows you to enable or disable whims… at your whim.

Hey I had the same problem, just go to the household you are playing and then go to the game options once you are there. Then the gameplay option won't be gray anymore and you can click whims now 

Hi I know that this is a bit outdated, but i have show wants and fears on, however i can still not see whims. I do have a lot of mods but when i played some time ago my whims where showing, but i deleted that save and started on a new one. Now i don't have any whims.
