"Resume" starts the wrong household

The past year and probably longer when I started the game, entered the manage worlds screen 90% of the time the game directed me to forgotten hollow, to a specific lot that I havent played in ages despite the fact that I played a very different household the day before.

Usually when I leave the game I exit to manage world to main menu with saving because on rare occasions when I selected save and close game it froze the game and I had to force it to close losing progress. So I expect the game to remember which world and lot I was playing last night.

Now for the past week I exclusively played one household. When I entered the game and hit the resume button it directed me to that household. But not today! Today it loaded that same unplayed household in forgotton hollow that I havent touched in ages. And its a rather HUGE lot, four levels high and highly cluttered. Hopefully you can imagine the frustration of this pointless loading time.

While I was switching from this household to three other lots, one of them with an active household and the other two being leveled, I hit save and exit to menu and what do I see? The resume button shows the forgotten hollow household again! So I had the idea to remove the household and deleted the house (after saving both to my library of course), saved and exited to the main menu... and the damn game jumped to another completely random household on the resume button! WTF?!

All I want is to enter the world I played last so I see where I left of and choose where I go from there. Directly loading the household is not what I consider as customer friendly. Why was it even changed to this?

To go to world view instead of the last played household use the load button instead of the resume button.

Well, it helps abit. Thanks. But it kind of defeats the purpose of the resume button.

I played a sim in san myshuno, visited a sim in newcrest, sent my sim home, saved, left the game. Now I enter the game, the resume button shows the sim I visited, the load game picture is from the sim I visited and the savegame label is from the old household. The lot is empty and renamed, the household is gone from my game but preserved in my gallery but the game still saves as if its all still there.

  • Yeah so the devs did another oopsie. Shocker. The resume button no longer loads the household I was playing instead its a random one and in turn that means more loading screens just to get to the one I was playing before like and average of 3-5 loading screens that last between 50 seconds to 2 minutes since the game is so bloated with all the DLC installed. Also for some reason now since the latest patch/DLC the camera now has to * around and focus on a random Sim after every loading screen.

The Resume button loads the last household you played when saving. From your description you play rotationally (more than one household in the same save). If you want to play another household than what you last played use the Load game button instead and you will get the world view where you can choose which of the households in that save you want to play.

  • I appreciate that you're trying to help @jpkarlsen but I don't think that's what anyone has been saying. No one is asking the game to magically know which household to play, next.  The problem is that the "resume" button automatically returns to a random Sim, and not the active households, even if the game was properly saved, and exited. In my case, it keeps returning to an auto-generated sim in the base-game world, "Willow Creek," even though I have never played this Sim, and I have no intention of playing this sim. I can switch to one of my Sims, save to manage worlds, save to main menu, save and exit, and restart the game, and it will still have "resume" set to that auto-generated sim. I can switch to any household, and it continues to return to that same single dude in Willow Creek. It completely defeats the purpose of a "resume" button.

No it loads the last played household. It however looks like you have the issue where the save is not complete. There is a thread about this in the bug forum you can look for. As I understand EA is working on a fix.
