Ok I did what I was trying to avoid but oh well... it *did* work. I just deleted the entire top floor that I was renovating and rebuilt it and now it accepts all the new rooms and registers them all as individual rooms. Annoying to have to rebuild the outside since I had many, many details on it but you do what you gotta do...
