sim can't reach letter box

My matriarch sim sometimes says she can't reach the letter box, even though it's right beside the front door on the verandah facing the street at ground level and completely unobstructed. I "Think* last time it may have been related to her adult child paying the bills on the computer earlier that day, because I don't normally do that, but with celebuserum for herself and birthday gifts for the kids and magical care packages for the young adults there's a lot more mail coming to my letter box than just bills! And the postie routinely says he can't reach the box, even when my sim has no trouble.

I'm wondering if this is related to the routing glitch that caused one of my kids to announce that he couldn't get out of the bathroom because the basin was in the way, even though he'd walked in there just fine and nobody else had had any trouble with it in the past half a sim year. Or the way when her latest babydaddy dies in the drowning pool my sim and sometimes her adult kids will walk directly through the shower and the bathroom wall and two solid fences to stand on the surface of the pool crying - but then they can't get out without me telling them to teleport. Because they're all just broken routing.
