Sims 4 never finishes loading after finishing a house and moving household

Hello Simmers!

I have recently joined the Sims 4 community and while I'm pretty sure this may have happened to someone else before, my game won't load: I started building a house several days ago for my sims to move in. Two days ago, I finished building it (I have used CC for some parts of the house and I also have CC for clothes or gameplay), so I saved the game, then went in Live Mode and went to my Sims' home. The loading screen transitioning from the new house I had built to the "old house" my Sims were living in already took a long time, but eventually it finished loading. But when it finished loading, I selected a computer and Moved my Household and selected the new house (which is in Newcrest). Then, a new loading screen appeared but it never finished loading!!😞

I closed the Sims 4 Window (which was hard because it wouldn't let me close it until it kinda froze) and today I tried launching the game. It worked fine, I could open the Main Menu with the Catalog on the left and the option on the right top corner where I could Resume my game but THERE again, after I clicked on Resume, the endless Loading Screen appeared again (I tried waiting for more than 15 Mins and it didn't load).

I spent a lot of time in that house and I have played with that household for quite a while now, please HELP!!! 😢
(Sorry for the long text but I wanted it to be as detailed as possible ;/ )

  • @mmvalrhh First of all (and if you haven't already done so), save your build and your household to your library, using the save options in build mode and CAS. Once those files are stored in your tray folder they don't get lost and can be reused. Note that mods and CC items are not a part of these library saves. You have to take care of them separately.

In many cases, those loading errors are mod related. Therefore try the following:

As always make a backup of your game data before you start tweaking your game to have a fallback option if you don't like the result.

    1. Move all your mods and CC other than MCCC somewhere safe (there's no need to delete them!) such as a folder on your desktop so you can easily find them again.
    2. Make sure to delete your localthumbcache.package file.
    3. Once done, start up your game and test to see if the error still appears.

Your game will probably work flawless without mods. If that's the case you have to go through your mods and find the culprit. The 50/50 search might be a good method for this task to get a result in a reasonable time.

    Attention:

All modded content will disappear from the game if you remove it, so if sims are wearing CC it will vanish while you're testing.

Because of this it's really important that you do not save the game while testing.

That way your CC will still be there when you bring your mods back into your game.

Thank you so much!!! You saved me!!!

At first I was afraid of losing anything because I couldn't save the game before it got stuck in the loading screen, but after moving all my CC to a folder in my desktop and putting them back slowly as you said, I was able to identify a corrupt document. It took a while but I can play again!! :D

    Thank you so much for your time, @Bonxie_MCCC !!! <3 🥳 ❤️

  • Can you say what you did step by step. I’m having this same issue. I spent hours building a home and when I tried to move my house hold from their old place into this one the loading screen is taking yearssss. I’ve been struggling for the last few hours and I’m unsure of what to do!!
