@kboo3113 Hello! Based on what you described, I wonder if you might try a "factory reset". The steps for how to do this are available at the below link which was created by AHQ Hero @crinrict, so I promise it's safe.

Basically, the tutorial takes you through the steps necessary to generate a new user folder without having to completely reinstall the game. I believe this should remove whatever is causing the problem you are seeing and there are steps included for restoring your saves and other files.
