sims not eating or travelling

When I click on the fridge my sims just reset (how they would if you shift click reset sim). This is the same for eating and for travelling. I've taken out my mods and they are not causing the problem. I've tried restarting but it hasn't worked. I even desperately tried to put the sims in a new save but the problem was still happening. For some reason the problem isn't occurring in one of my saves but it is in the others. Its really annoying as I literally cant play. 

(Extra info: this starting happening a few days ago, I did buy a new pack in the sale so I'm not sure if that caused anything? but the save that i was using to play with the pack is fine and its only the others. The save was also an already existing one.) 

Please help this is driving me crazy.

    Try the following

    • Close the game
    • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry
    • Start a new save game
    • Check if you still have the error
    • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
