Sims suddenly stop and then teleport

When I tell my sims to do something, they start walking but at some point they just stop and freeze there for maybe like 10 real life seconds or so while the sims time is still going (which is kind of a long time in the game). After these few seconds, they just teleport and appear where the thing I told them to do is and start doing it. Is this happening to anyone else or is it just me?
