Spire Apartments Build Mode Save Issue

@DarkFia14 Can I please clarify a few things that may help us...

• When did this start happening?
• Were there any updates or other changes that may have triggered this? 
• Are you on PC, Mac, or Console?
• Did you have Mods/CC in the game before this happened?

This started in March. I'm not sure if it was triggered by a patch or update since I never played on that lot before; I was just trying to renovate it. And I did. I also did try uninstalling the game, reinstalling it and continued playing with no mods. It worked for 1 save I did on that lot and then I went back to change something and it did it again so I just put my mods back and avoided that lot.

@DarkFia14  So it only happens on one lot, and in one game save? And you have Mods/CC (Custom Content) that were in it before that you had removed?

• If there's any possibility that you have some part of your Mods/CC that was causing the issue and got snagged up in the lot/game, that could be causing the problem. You could try addressing this as follows, doing all sets - even if you did most of them before:

  Do you have any Mods or CC? If so, please move your Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. If the issue is gone, please re-add the Mods/CC one at a time until you find the one causing the issue. If you have a lot of Mods/CC you can try the 50/50 Method.
• You could then do a game repair. I will include below directions on game repair in case you are on Mac, as there are special directions for that:

  How to run a game repair:
  
  • Open Origin, click ‘Game Library’ then right-click Sims 4 > Repair Game
  • If you’re on PC, make sure to let it run until it has completed all repairs (it will do the base game first, then run through each of your DLCs (Expansion Packs, Game Packs and Stuff Packs).

• Is home on the lot one that came in the game, one you made, or one you downloaded from the gallery? Do you know if it has any CC?
• If none of that fixes the buggy lot, since this is the only lot you're having this issue on you could try saving your Sim households to your library (save all that have relationships that you want to keep intact in the same household since the households saved to the library only maintain the relationships within that household), then you could try starting a new game save.

I've tried the repair game before with no CC and mods in the folder but that didn't help. I also tried the adding one mod at a time to see if one is causing the issue, but the problem with that is: in order to fix the issue altogether, I have to uninstal and reinstall the game, and it takes 8 hours to do it and seems very unnecessary to fix a simple saving issue.

The apartments are from the gallery, but they don't contain CC.

I would go in and change the apartment to a different one, but I am afraid I will have to uninstall and reinstall my game to make it work again.

@DarkFia14  CC &/or Mods that are in the game, and sometimes that have been removed but have left cache in the game, can affect your game in ways that may or may not make sense. So if you did not remove the cache file along with removing and re-adding/testing the Mods, the accuracy of the process can be affected. That's why I recommended it as a possible thing to try. 

Anyway... could you please share the name of the apartment and the creator in the gallery, and exactly where you placed them? I'd love to see if I can reproduce the issue in my game. 

Also, I was not entirely sure from your comment if you were confirming that if you had the Mods/CC removed from the game if the issue was gone then?

I have since removed the mods and CC after I reinstalled, and I did remove the localcache package file after removing or adding the mods before.

I will try to find the creator in the morning - it was 888 Spire Apartments.

After reinstalling the game, I was able to get a new apartment set from the gallery for the apartment and I will also check that it works since I last closed the game - it was the last thing I did before saving and exiting.

I could not find the creator of the original rooms I put in the apartment (I searched #888spireapartments originally, so I did that again and scrolled through the sections and could not find the creator).

@DarkFia14 If you find it see if there is a blue symbol in the corner of the thumbnail that has a wrench, that would indicate there is CC on the lot. And just for fun there can occasionally be a glitch and a CC item can come on-board that did not get ID'd as CC (the wrench) and something could go buggy even though you don'e own the CC and those CC items should have been stripped. Unusual things can randomly happen, of many types, that can cause something to get buggy... including something in your game. It's possible this was the case with your lot, and we may never know exactly what made it buggy.

Of course, as you know since you previously had CC &/or Mods in the game, sometimes even after being removed they can leave cache in the game that can affect your game in ways that may or may not make sense.

I'm glad it's working without them, though, so at least you know you just need to either play it without them or find which is causing the issue and leave it out until there is a fix for it.

Yea, I'm just glad my game let me redo the apartment to a different creator. Since I removed that and the cache, should I be safe to try putting my mods (and check for updated ones, if needed) in the game one at a time without it completely ruining my game and having to uninstall/reinstall?

@DarkFia14 I cannot guarantee what buggy-results may emerge in the tests as you re-add the Mods. I suppose if you want to be a bit more cautious you may want to try re-adding them into a different/new game save for testing purposes. If you test after adding each one you should then be able to ID which one(s) are causing the issue, then remove that Mod(s) and the cache file after you confirm which Mod(s) are causing the issue, then see if it has a new version before re-adding it. You could also contact the Mod(s) creator(s). If the Mod(s) causing the issue is removed plus the cache file is removed after the Mod is removed and you have any issue you could then run a game repair. A repair won't fix a buggy Mod, though, it will just check your game for missing stuff, etc.
