Starting University causes my game to freeze & crash

on my mods/cc-free laptop I had a Sim start a university degree and immediately my game started stuttering and froze (I couldn't even use the Alt+F4 trick to save & close down, I had to go through the Task Manager to force the game to quit).

I've had this issue before (close to a year ago) on my desktop and back then it was blamed on one of the mods I used on there, and since I was never able to figure out which mod caused the issue I quit having Sims apply to university while playing the game on my desktop.

But now that I started a Sim at university on my laptop, it's happening again, and this time it cannot be blamed on mods or cc since my laptop never had any installed.

Please help me figure this out, otherwise I've thrown a lot of money down the drain for a pack I cannot play.

    @107531kop Could you post your Computer's DxDiag?

    - Press Windows-Key + R
    - Type: DxDiag
    - Click on Save all Information.
    - Attach the Text File to your post

    @crinrict I've had to force my computer to quit without saving the game... when I restarted the game I was back to before applying to uni (and didn't apply again), so does the DxDiag still work then?

    @107531kop DxDiag is the specs of your computer. Has nothing to do with the game. Wanted to see if there's anything that could account for the freezing.

    @crinrict a bit of digging on multiple forums shows that people with brand-new top-notch gaming laptops and gaming desktops as well as people with regular PCs are having similar problems with university freezing their games... my tech-savvy code-monkey husband already checked the DxDiag and says it's more than capable of running the game (especially since the custom build high-end heavy gaming desktop he build for me is having the same issue as my regular Lenovo Ideapad laptop from 2017)... guess I'll have to stick with not playing university until EA finally decides to fix the problem...
