STILL having problems with bred foals walking staggeringly & adults on hind legs

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.99.305.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Most all of them Have not had problems with any of them except horse ranch
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? My bred foals walk staggeringly and walk on hind legs when I age them of to an adult in cas.
What happens when the bug occurs? Foals walk staggeringly. Foals I aged up in cas walk on hind legs.
What do you expect to see? Normal foal walking and and normal adult walking.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. I downloaded horse ranch expansion pack,

I am still having problems with bred foals walking staggeringly and the adult version of the bred foal walks on their hind legs.

I have removed custom content and saves and cache.

The patch does not seem to have solved this problem for me.

  • Thank you for your help. It turns out it was a saved game I had that was causing the problem!

  • 1. "foals walking staggeringly" = not a bug. Foals are born wobbly/dazed and over time will find their feet and start walking better, similar to toddlers gaining movement skill.

    2. adult horses on hind legs = absolutely a bug.

There was a bug that was fixed that foals aged up with age up treats while still dazed would glitch as adults and walk on their hind legs. I don't believe the patch will have fixed already glitched adult horses, though, only prevented it from happening again.

But you say you aged up in CAS, rather than with a treat - I assume with the fulleditmode cheat? It's possible that's still glitched. Do you have a horse you've aged up since the patch?

The foals I create in cas walk normally. The bred foals do not.

After I aged up the neurological damaged bred foal in cas, it then walked on hind legs.

    It's getting really frustrating.

Yes, I aged up a foal in cas after the patch.. And it walked on hind legs.

@carlybette The foals you create in CAS skip the newborn stage. Only bred foals need to learn to walk. This is what is supposed to happen, and you need to give them some time - maybe a couple days. If you hover on them, you'll see it says they're dazed. And if you ask what's wrong, it will give you a notification about being new to the world and dazed by how big it is and needing time to get used to it.

As a workaround for now, don't age them up - in CAS or anywhere else - until after that dazed moodlet wears off (after they start walking normally). Aging them up too early while still wobbly is what causes the walking on hind legs glitch.

I've already closed my game for tonight, but I'll try to test aging up a bred foal in CAS as soon as I get a chance to see if I can add a me-too to that.

@carlybette Finally had a chance to test - it seems this ONLY happens if you use cheats. There is no bug in aging up a dazed foal with a horse age-up treat. Nor is there (as I had feared there might be) a bug with aging the foal up in CAS if you save them to the library while dazed and then place them again. It only happens if you use the cas.fulleditmode cheat and then age the foal up while they still have the dazed moodlet from being born. Unfortunately, I am not sure cheats are fully supported. I would recommend you either wait to age the foal up until it is no longer dazed, or you use a horse age-up treat. You can even use bb.showhiddenobjects to get that treat - as long as a cheat was not used directly to edit the foal I found no problem.
