Suddenly have shiny/reflective sims bug in 2022

There was this old bug in 2019 I think where the scout uniform caused sims to look shiny and have reflective spots.

Suddenly this is back in my game and I can't figure out why.

Some extra info:

-I haven't updated the game since cottage living, but I haven't had this issue until now

-I have added some new cc close to the start of the bug, but when I remove the new cc the shiny texture stays

When I go back to a month old save file the issue isn't there. The only reasons I can think of are either:

-Newer cc is incompatible and breaks something indefinitely meaning even if I remove it nothing changes

-I figured the game needs to be repaired but with the older save file things are still fine?

-I also thought maybe my laptop needs an update or has a graphics issue but again why would an older save be fine?

I'm really confused. I keep rolling back to the old save but after some time (two weeks or so) the bug keeps coming back. This is a pretty weird issue and I've run out of ideas.

Other things I've tried that didn't work:

-Factory reset

-Batch fixing with Sims4 Studio

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

  • @LolaLikesC4  It's possible this was caused by a system update, either some element of Windows or the graphics driver.  But it's really difficult to troubleshoot with an old version of the game.  Other than checking for driver updates and rolling back if necessary—you can do so through the Device Manager—I don't know what to suggest.

@puzzlezaddict that is one solution, but I'll probably need to update eventually, that includes the game so maybe its just an inevitability that its going to keep happening ☹️ thanks for your input anyway
