The sun just doesn’t work inside

Weird title I know but that’s what my issue is, whenever my sims are inside standing in front of a window they stay sort of grey/dark like the sun isn’t lighting them up. It’s frustrating and I’ve tried everything, including a completely vanilla with no cc install is this normal? Or did I mess something up?

From that angle you see your sims own shade.
There should however have been a highlight on her left side (your right). It may be down to your graphic settings or the capabilities of your graphics card that is not there.
