I've been playing the sims for about 5 months now, but I have been having a problem since the beginning. When loaded into a game and looking through settings to change lifespan, it does not appear. Nothing appears about the gameplay settings or even the neighborhood stories. I've tried: Uninstalling the game, fixing through origin, and even removing the mods themselves. Here is a photo for reference:
@LexiDaisy00 go to documents look for ea folder double click on it, then go to saves and create a backup save of your save folder palce it on your desktop, after that delete the sims 4 folder. when you start the sims 4 it will create new folder, put your save back in. when the new folder is created it will reset the game options back to there normal setting like lifestyle, weather and other settings. my guess is the sims 4 folder might be corrupted and might be a good idea, clear origin cache, and repair the game and update the game
@mills1227 Hi! Sorry you're having trouble. Are you asking about creating a backup save, as mentioned in an earlier post? If so, bring up a file explorer and navigate to your Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder. It should look something like this.
Right click on The Sims 4 folder and select Copy. Then paste it in a different location, either a different folder on your PC or a USB drive maybe, for safe keeping. It's a good idea to do this regularly, if you're worried about losing your saves and settings from a crash or other problem.
Are you also having an issue with game options looking empty, as described in the original post? It seems the author of the post was able to fix it by removing mods. If you have mods, use the file explorer again and navigate to the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 / Mods folder. Then move that folder to the desktop temporarily and also delete the localthumbcache.package file located in the Documents / Electronic Arts / The Sims 4 folder before opening the game for testing. When you open the game, a new Mods folder will be created in that Sims 4 folder. If you see that your game options are back in the game without mods, then you can start adding your mods back a little at a time (closing the game and deleting the cache file each time) until you find which mod is causing the problem.
