Why do people upload CC sims/houses on the gallery?

Now I'm not knocking anyone for using CC first of all. I'm an avid user of CC and I can't live without my folder of ccs! That said, I really don't understand why anyone uploads CC sims to the gallery....

I use the Gallery as a "backup" of my Sims in case my Saved games are lost/corrupted. So it makes sense if people with CC are also doing that. I personally never use CC though.
