Yo so is this what should be happening??

Okay so i havent played sims in a while and i guess there was a big update which kicked off all my mods? Usually this isnt a problem i just turn them back on again and start playing. I decided to make a new family and try playing only to be bombarded with a bunch of quests and in-game tasks that cannot be x-ed out or removed. The game wont let me open the cheat bar either. I dont know if this is from one of my mods, as i tried turning some off, and plan to remove some more i cant use. If anyone else sees this or is struggling with the same thing PLS let me know i would love to be able to play my game again 😂

Yep, you've got some broken mods for sure judging from your picture.  From what I see, it looks like you've got a broken UI mod, so you'll need to update that as a minimum.  If you're using UI Cheats, then there is an updated version available.  But you've probably got a few more too if you haven't played for a while.  Life and Death broke a lot of things.  So, I suggest you create a throwaway user folder and go through your mods to make sure everything is working.  Then delete or update what you find broken.  Once you've got it straightened out, then use those instead of what you currently have in your mods folder for your main save.  It's probably going to take a bunch of time, and a lot of game loads and exits to find everything if you had a lot of mods, so you'll need to be patient while you go through things.

    Hope this helps.

  • Hey, thank you so much for responding so quickly. Yeah i have a lot of mods, and i did recently install the UI cheats mod after life and death released. I do have a quick question, though. I use a mod manager (dont remember the specific name, i'll need to look at it tomorrow), so if you could maybe help me create a throwaway user folder, that would be awesome! Again, thanks for replying. I usually dont get answer or help that fast anywhere else 😂. Will definitely start cleaning out my sims mods as soon as possible, though!

  • @CGrant56 Update, sorry for pinging so much, but it turns out my UI chears mod was infact the only problem. Will be attempting to clean out the mods folder tomorrow (or whenever i decide to walk over to my computer again LOL). Thank you!!

Great!  Glad you found the problem and got it fixed.

As to creating a new user folder ("The Sims 4" folder), it's pretty easy.  All you have to do is rename your current one to something else or move it out of the Electronic Arts folder to elsewhere on your computer, then start the game.  A new one will be automatically created during the process of game startup.  After going through the process of making and placing the mandatory sim, you just save and quit, and it's done.  Then you have something to work in for testing and other things.  For instance, since I play the game with mods, I have several user folders that I switch in and out for various things, like a no mods folder for testing new lots and downloaded sims and for replicating problems and troubleshooting lots for posts reported here for other users.  I also have a separate folder where I do all my major lot building in a vanilla save and then my main play folder where I use mods.

And as an FYI since you're a mod user, every time there is a game update, @luthienrising publishes a broken mod list which you can find here at AHQ.  The current one is Broken and Updated Sims 4 Mods and CC: 1.111, Dec. 3, 2024 Game Update - Answer HQ.  It's a good resource when you're troubleshooting your game when you run into a problem, particularly after a game update or a new pack is released.

    Have fun with your game!
