console - cas stuck

now my cas is stuck. the game isn’t frozen - my sim is still moving and making those noises they make in cas. but i can’t press any buttons. it’s stuck on the reconnect controller screen (i play on xbox one). i’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting controllers but it won’t let me press A to confirm i’ve reconnected. i don’t want to restart the game because i’ll lose everything i’d done in cas.

Gotchya, thanks for that additional info! If you haven't already, we'll want to try a full power-cycle on your Xbox:

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds. This will shut down your console completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 30 seconds so the power supply is reset.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

If CAS gets stuck again for you like this, please be sure to let me know so we can look into this further!

    Hi there @frostingsims1,

If your controller isn't able to reconnect, please try the following:

    1. Manually power-cycle your controller
    2. Power-cycle your console
    3. Test a different controller
    4. Try connecting your controller to your console via USB cable
    5. Check for any updates for your controller:
      • If your controller connects when using a USB cable but doesn't stay connected after removing the cable, reconnect the cable and see if there’s an update available for your controller:
      • Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
      • Under Profile & system, select Settings.
      • Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.
      • On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller.
      • If it says there’s no update available, your controller is current. If it says “Update,” follow the steps provided.
      • Once your controller is updated, disconnect the USB cable and try connecting wirelessly again.

If these steps don't help, you'll want to get in contact with Xbox support for further assistance on troubleshooting your controller.

  • should’ve explained this in the original post but cas was stuck long before the controller disconnected. i purposely disconnected and reconnected it to try and solve this and even tried a separate controller altogether, which is when it showed the ‘please reconnect controller screen’. the issue wasn’t my controllers, they connected fine, the issue was the game couldn’t give a response for any button i pressed. this started mid way through cas where it stopped letting me press on any of the options
