This really seems to be computationally intensive. Sometimes / Meanwhile when zooming out as far as possible (so that only this very bright aurora is visible anymore) the fan goes max RPM and the console shuts down due to overheating. This might for sure be a cleaning issue of my particular console, however, it shows impressively how much computing power is consumed by this unnecessary visual effect.

In the linked video, you can see the difference in frame rate when the effect is visible. Meanwhile I use this weather control machine to have it constantly raining, otherwise the game is unplayable. Even disabling Eco Lifestyle effects in setup doesn't help. It does remove the effect from "Manage World" but if you load into your neighbourhood, it's still there. Install without eco-lifestyle is not an option because (apart from having paid for it) that specific neighbourhood is off grid, so I need pv, wind energy and moisture collectors from eco lifestyle
Meanwhile, can anybody tell me how to ruin my green footprint? Except of letting it rain all the time, this seems to be the only way to get rid of this crap.

@Zalo-Doran You could try adding fireplaces to builds to bring it back to neutral but I agree there should be a way to disable it I've got it in my game but I have the footprint turned off it's a new save I can't get rid of it.

As I thought as well. Unfortunately, fireplaces seem not to work (or at least didn't have enough weight against all the "green" solar powered appliances). I tried a special room with about 30 of them, and it didn't go away.

@Zalo-Doran I'll ask around see if anyone else has any other ideas how to get rid of it.
