[Fixed][PS4] Sims 4 Freezing/Random Crashing Endless Loading Patch 1.33 - 1.37

Please update your game to Version 1.38 This issue is fixed with Patch 1.38.

For any other issue, please read this thread [Read First][Current Issues] Game Issues or Crashes Patch 1.38 (Feb 25 Update)

Patch 1.33 (Nov 10th) included a bug with Seasons, where Father Winter (Not Clement Frost) would duplicate infinitely, fill your save and cause freezing/lagging/endless loading. The issue was patched with 1.35. and fixed in 1.38.

Important!

  • UPDATE: This has been patched in 1.38! Update your game and load your households to apply the fix. [Reference] New saves are not affected by the Father Winter duplication issue as of Patch 1.35 [Reference]

    • Please also see this thread for more information Game Freezing because of Father Winter (Aftermath Patch 1.35)
    • If you cannot get a household to load at all in your save, there may be no way to recover it even with the fix. It requires a household to be loaded to begin the culling process. A tutorial/help page for saving your sims to your library is here Save & Share a Household. The gallery portion isn't relevant for simply moving sims to another save.

  • This issue has been patched with Version 1.38, please update your game and load your household to apply the fix.

    • Was your game save feeling the pressure to not continue with the Winterfest spirit? So were we. We have applied a fix that should help with the culling of extra Father Winters... affecting some saves. The Culling (it’s like The Happening, so something will happen… we hope) should start when loading into a Lot. Simmers with low-end machines and many, many Father Winters... in saves, may take some time (possibly hours… that is real-life hours, not Sim hours… just in case) for The Culling to complete. Afterward, Simmers should see an improvement in performance when playing these saves.

@jeckah95338 Are you able to load a different household in the save? If so, maybe try to let it stay on that household if your issue is the Father Winter one so the game can get rid of all those winters. The link I gave above goes into depth about that issue.

You can also try moving that household that isn't loading temporarily to an empty lot and have them sell all their furnishings. Once they are on the empty lot, see if you can load the household.

No, I can't load any household in the save.

When you mention it, I think it was around winterfest that the crashes started.

But my game and console is fully updated, is there something I can do to make it work properly again?

I just tried to split the household and move one part of the household to another lot but that didn't help.

@jeckah95338 The fix isn't applied apparently until you load a lot. Can you put a random sim down in a starter lot to see if that'll load? If you can get it to load, just try and let the game run as long as possible real time to see if it gets rid of the excessive npc count.

    Sorry for my late reply,

    I will try that today.

I tried to move my household and sell all the furniture yesterday but that didn't work.

    Unfortunately it didn't work either.

    I cannot load any household.

I can load lots tho, as long as there's no sims living there.

@jeckah95338 So you can bring a played sim to say the park? If so, can you just leave your sim in the park and let it run a while (3 am is culling time) and see if it improves. It would probably mean leaving your sim to "live" at the park for a while, through several nights. To see if it progresses. They'd need to be unemployed or take vacation days.

If you don't want to do this to see if it helps, you may want to just save all your sims and their lots to your library and place them all down in a new save. This will break any relationships outside the households, but they will keep their funds and careers/skills etc.

It doesn't work to go to the park. I cannot load a sim there either.

How do I save my sims to the library without having to load them?

@jeckah95338 That's a bummer you can't salvage your save. They did say some saves may take a really long time to clear the winters, but that's if you could load a household.

A tutorial/help page for saving your sims to your library is here Save & Share a Household. The gallery portion isn't relevant but there's good information and images to save households to your library.

Once in a new save, you can load your household into the CAS from the library again. Just delete the random sim they give you afterwards. You'll have to adjust relationships if you do it this way.

You can also use the "Move in family from Library" interaction on houses if you have a sim active in the neighborhood. Moving a family directly into the house from the library preserves their set relationships in the family.

I figured out how to save households and I started a new save so now I can play again.

Thank you so much for your help!
