Solved

Game pretends I’ve never played.

I play on an Xbox One. Every time I load onto the Sims 4, it tells me to restart and that something went wrong. I have to do this about 3-4 times before it actually lets me load in. Once I finally get into the main menu, the game acts as if I have never played before, none of my saves are there and everything I saved to the gallery is gone. After I restart my game, it finally works normally and I have everything. But It is so annoying to do and takes about 15 minutes every time I want to play. Please help me.

  • Hi there @emmanarc0717 I was just speaking to Xbox Support about this for another player this week. They told me to pass on the instructions to uninstall and reinstall the game and add-ons. Then follow the steps I'm attaching here for you from the live chat.

I followed the instructions. I reset my xbox but make sure to keep my games and apps. I was able to load onto the game first try and my saves were there, however, a message popped up that says some data is missing and I dont know what it could be.

@emmanarc0717 I'd try reinstalling it a couple of times and restart the game and it should work. It mustn't have installed again properly and that's why items are missing.
  • This is exactly what’s happening to me. I started a separate thread on it yesterday. I have to attempt launching the game three or four times before it will load. Once it finally loads 50% of the time things I’m playing for the first time. Once I’m in the game, it will crash when I try to travel, enter CAS, or build mode.

I’m having the same problem as you. I want to try the solution but I’m so worried that I’m gonna lose something

I was hopeful that this solution would solve the repeated error codes I receive when trying to launch the game. (Maybe? a separate problem from my constant crashing in travel, cAs and build mode?). So I did as instructed and uninstalled the game and all add-ons, then reinstalled the game and all add-ons, then went in and reset the console as your attachment instructed. It took about an hour for the game to sync back my data. Once I did that, I confirmed that my save was still there, I entered the same house that I have been playing prior to this process, and I tried to have them travel. The game went to the spinning wheel with the pretty music playing and then crashed. I thought “well at least when I reload this time it will launch  promptly.” But sorry to say I again got a “failure” to launch message. See picture attached

You’re the same kind person who was trying to help me with my travel crash issue. As I mentioned on that other thread I was also having problems with failure to launch the game. So I tried everything you suggested here in this thread. See my response above, unfortunately it didn’t work for me

PS it just crashed again. Trying to enter CAS and when I tried to relaunch I got the same failure/error in the photo I attached above. It took my three times to get the game to initiate.

Sadly, after some great years, I feel this has became unplayable. Maybe on another console it would be better? Too advanced for old XBox1?

@nickinbigdI've been there. I know how frustrating it is, when I got to this stage with Xbox one I had a chat with Xbox Support to get a second opinion and was lucky to get a Sims player who did say it was getting to be too much for an Xbox one. That was a few years ago too.
But what I'd recommend doing is having that chat with them directly and getting a second opinion. They don't always want to advise on error codes for a specific game but if you list the sheer multitude of problems you're having, I'm sure they'll give you some advice.

I had some crashing issues switching to Xbox Series S but am now running the game on Xbox Series X, 2 saves and it's running well. However, full disclosure there are some players having problems on this console too. I also avoid downloading from the Gallery as that caused some error codes for me, as did taking photos. So on this console I haven't done either of those things. It's a shame to miss out on them but I'm super cautious now. But it's worth it to me to avoid the technical problems I've had in the past.

The only other thing I can think of is if it was possible to get into the game at all, to clear all the things I've suggested on the other thread. I don't know how many saves you are playing (apologies if you've told me already lol) but try just keeping the one save file and see if that loads more easily. It's the size of the game and the processing power required that's the problem. Even additional memory isn't enough.
