Household names update correctly after pressing 'regular play'

I’m a newer player on PS4, but I’ve noticed something similar to this problem recently but I’m not sure if it’s part of the game or not. When, after loading the game and I push the regular play button instead of loading any of my saved games, my manage households aren’t all updated correctly. Households either don’t load or have older versions loaded and won’t update no matter what I try unless I open the saved game. Is this something that can be fixed or is it part of how the game works? Thank you!

    @NessaIvySelena Did you play without logging in to your main profile or use a guest account?

    Your households are unique per save, so if you start a new save, the old saves won't progress anymore if you stop playing them.

    Save 1 has baby and toddlers. Baby and toddlers show in the image.
    Save 2 has current save data.
    Autosave is whatever save you loaded last and will be the last save unless you force close the game.

    I personally don't use the "play" button and always load my saves from the save screen. (So if this happens otherwise I haven't seen it).

    You can also delete unwanted saves from that save screen by highlighting them and pressing the triangle.

    Perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are seeing.

    @NessaIvySelena Is the autosave being loaded instead of your save game? If the autosave is older than your regular save, you will lose data from your regular save.

    Try exiting the game from the menu, which will cause an autosave on exit, and see if the same thing happens when you press the play button the next time you load the game.

    Make sure your game is fully updated, the issue you linked was because of sims being removed from university campus housing. The households were not given names when they were removed.

    Oh, I’m sorry. I probably should have created a new thread. Thank you for replying so quickly!

    I did try that and it does save, but then I play another household and the first household is back to the old version, and playing from the main menu shows the non-updated version of the first household that was available on whatever household I last played and new households aren’t shown even though they’re saved. Wow, that was confusing. I hope this makes sense. I think my game is fully updated, since it auto-updated the other day, but I can double-check.

    @NessaIvySelena It's just the clothing or hair that's outdated in the image? I think I know what you are seeing. I had a household I changed clothing and hair on, but in the image it showed them before I changed them. The game was not affected, I don't think, just the thumbnails were wrong.

    If you load the game are the households correct even with the wrong thumbnails?

    No, it’s not updated when I try to play it. In my saved version of the game, the child of the adults is a young adult (and has now moved out to go to college) but in the played-from-main version the kid is still a toddler. I thought that it was just the image too at first, but no, it’s not. It’s super weird.

    @NessaIvySelena Is your console full? Do you have 10 saves total?

    You can try deleting the autosave to see if the game makes a new one. Settings > Application Saved Data Management > System Storage (or wherever you keep your saves) > Select Sims 4, then select the autosave, click delete.

    I’m sorry, but nothing showed up for System Storage other than allowing me to save to a usb, online, or other such settings? No specific option for Sims 4 data. (I’m new to PlayStation as well, in all honesty, so sorry I’m being so difficult. I feel really bad.) Could it not be showing up because my system is almost full? I’m getting an external hard drive tomorrow to put everything on, so that should free up space once it’s set up if that’s the problem, and then I can try again. Thank you for always replying! I’m truly grateful you’re taking time to try to help.

    @NessaIvySelena Let me try again. I powered up my PS4 to get exact directions. I missed the "delete" menu in my above post so that may have been confusing.

    Settings > Application Saved Data Management > Saved Data in System Storage (also Saved Data in Online Storage if you have PS+) > Delete > Select Sims 4, then select the autosave, click delete.

    If you use PS+, it may possibly be syncing an older save when you load the game. Especially if your drive is full. So there's no current autosave, only the older one in PS+.

    I deleted the autosave and really thought it would work this time, but it still didn’t. The toddlers are still babies, newer households don’t show up, and my one girl that’s in university is still shown as a toddler when played from the main screen depending on the game I played last, even after deleting autosave. So overall they’re still showing old versions of my saved games. Maybe this problem just isn’t fixable? Though I still haven’t set up the hard drive because it’s giving me trouble too, but that’s a whole other thing (and my PS4 still says it has ~20 GB left, so idk). Oh, I don’t have PS+, so I guess that’s not the problem haha. Thank you for going through all this trouble for me!!

    @PoptartJuniper No, I play from my main account, but I think you hit the mark with how you explained saves. So this problem is actually part of the game, then. That’s a shame. I wanted to update them so I can play more households by overwriting a save without the worry of losing the current data since there’s only 10 save spots, but oh well. Thank you again so much for doing all you could to help me, though I’m sure you’re probably irritated it wasn’t actually a problem at all. I appreciate all of your help!
