****PLEASE HELP! Build Mode Issues

I just downloaded The Sims 4 on my Playstation 4 console simply because it was free. I’m not new to The Sims at all, I’ve been playing since I was 4 years old. When I got into my game and created my household and went into Build Mode, I would try to go in “Build” (the little house) or “Objects by Room” (kitchen, living room, etc) and the cursor itself would move down by “Household Funds” and only allow me to move it side by side, filter through the different rooms by using L1 or R1, but I can’t click on anything, the only thing I’m able to use is “Objects by Function.” Yes, I have contacted support and they told me to troubleshoot and I have done every step, even uninstall and reinstall the game and restoring licenses. Please help, as this has made gameplay/building harder on myself. Thanks!

*I tried to link a video and it’s saying unsupported file type.

*EDIT* Somehow the problem was fixed. I don’t know what happened but now It’s working perfectly 😂. Thank you to everyone who tried to help.

  • Are you pressing the button in the middle of the controller? The Black Button in the middle of the Playstation Controller will cause the cursor to disappear. After the cursor disappears, the thumb sticks only let you scroll over everything on the side of the screen.

One of the more recent things I encountered is the cursor disappearing while in gameplay. I ended up getting my cursor back by going to the main menu. Took a bit of patience to get there. I do know that this happened shortly before the game became free.

Do to some personal reasons, I haven't been playing the game.

I'm kinda in limbo and looking for a way to move forward with playing the Sims. Helping another player, I can't think of a better reason to go into the game again.

If you want, I can go into my game and see if I can replicate your problem and find a solution. Right now, I'm at a dead end with my favorite gameplay and need something to fill the time.

  • I haven't done too much in build yet, but what I noticed in CAS is that the console version really seems to lock you into only one set of controls at a time, even if you can see everything. Backing all the way out of the current selection or clicking the touchpad once generally frees the cursor and allows you to pick a different set of controls. Does that apply here? Maybe you're currently locked into the by function menu. Try the touchpad, or maybe hitting the circle to "close" the by function.

    Hi there @luvdiamantee,

Once you're in Objects By Room, you should just be able to use the left thumbstick to scroll through each category and select specific items.

Have you tested this with a different controller, as well as resetting the current controller you're using?
