Sims 4 Lagging ps4

Since update game is very laggy and people will just stand in place staring into space not doing any of the assigned activities.

  • @Renegademan17 hi, I'm on Xbox Series X. I've had lagging problems over the years and found ways to help alleviate the problem in my game.

I would check your Sim total in Game Options and check you are not near or over your total number of Sims allowed. If you are, you can move some Sims into Other Households. In Other Households itself, I often clear some random NPCs because the total number can get out of control, especially with adding new content. I usually cull them once a week and I personally choose to keep the total under 100. After adding Cottage Living I had so many NPCs my game ground to a halt.

In your Library, check you don't have loads of saved Sims and Lots that you don't need to keep copies of.

In your played households, clear their inventories, fridges, household inventories. I clear those every time I switch households. If you have many households with a lot of stored items it can cause lagging and crashing. It clutters up up your game. My current Sims use their inventories as normal while I'm playing their household, but I always clear it all before moving on.

I do all of this once a week as a regular game maintenance to stop my game lagging and crashing. I also notice that it is worse on a 64x64 lot. For an occasional lag, I bring up the Game Options and close it down a couple of times and that usually clears the lag for me.

You can also power cycle your console, I'd do that after you've cleared excess storage. If you haven't done that before you will find tips here.

Good luck, hope something here helps.

  • I'm going to try what Champion 818 suggests. I'm on a PS4. I hope it works. With all of the updates and installing love struck I have problems.  Every time I try to do any requests of my Sims or I go into build mode I get this issue. I've also, seen problems with the graphics. Sims will go through the furniture. Stalling and  just standing. Every move I make it just stick's. I've thought about resetting my ps 4. But I'm afraid I'm going to make it worse. Besides, I've played other games and it doesn't happen. It's just the sims 4.

@Primalfear56 do you have a problem with Sims freezing and just standing there too? I'm attaching an open bug report for you to take a look at, reports have escalated recently. If you think you might have the same problem in your game you can join it by clicking Me Too on the first post on page 1 to help track how many are affected and if you'd like to, you can add a reply. By hitting Reply you should be prompted with a bug template to complete with information about your system and owned content.

Hi Champion, thanks for your response. I refuse to give up on the sims 4. I did go to the site you gave to report the lag issues and others. It seems they are no longer taking reports. They claim they are being investigated. So, I'll just sit quietly like a good little girl. I've pre-ordered life and death DLC. Let's see what happens with this. Thanks again.

@Primalfear56They are still taking replies, they just don't need players to send save files anymore as thankfully they have received enough now to help them investigate, that's a good sign. But if you do get a chance to add a reply you'll be kept informed when there's an update on the problem.
It's entirely up to you though and you're very welcome. I hope it's fixed soon.

Edit: this issue has now been fixed with today's update. So hopefully it should be working normally.
