Sorry to bug you, but I swear I tried several things before giving up but nothing has worked. I created a symlink and it seemed to work but when I started adding my cc mods the game wouldn't load: it would open to the loading page and then stay there for like an hour. I saw another post you responded to for a similar issue and I followed suit by deleting everything and starting fresh but still no luck. Instead, after I reinstalled the game on my external drive it would open perfectly but as soon as I downloaded cc mods the game would stop opening, instead it would say "Application not responding". So I deleted the game again only this time I got a message that said "Application already running". I really tried to figure it out on my own but I think I'm just making it worse. I was just wondering if you would be able to help?

Merged your post into the symlink master thread. Rename the Mods folder so the game doesn't attempt o load the contents, trash the localthumbcache.package file, create a new folder in the Sims 4 folder called Mods, re-download from the creator one of the pieces of CC or Mods that you already have and isn't working and add it to the Mods folder. Load up your game and see if the game recognises it.- lima13bean2 years agoSeasoned Rookie@Bluebellflora Okay so I think I screwed up reversing the symlink when I deleted the game last time because I cant find the Electronic Arts folder, in its place is the Electronic Arts_bkp.

That's a backup folder that you would have created when reversing the symlink that should contain your Sims 4 user data. If you launch the game is there an Electronic Arts folder in your local Documents folder?
