🛠️ Creating a symlink in macOS to store the Sims 4 folder on an external drive

I uninstalled the sims 4 from my computer and re-installed on a hard drive. I created a folder of saves, trays and mods prior to deleting everything.  How can I get back to my old houses/families? I tried copying and pasting those folders onto the hard drive, under sims 4 but when I load the game it looks like I am a new user. I also noticed, every time I play the game the "electronic folder" pops back up in the documents section of my computer. Can someone please help me.
