Ok. We can check where their saves are coming from. You'll need to do this in both of their Mac user accounts:
Launch the game and click on load game then hover over one of the households to see the file path:
Try and use the same saved game to check in each account.
Just had a thought, I wonder if they are uploading their sims to the gallery and downloading them into each of their games?
When doing load game the same families are in each of their games.
I've attached it.

Those screenshots are from their separate Mac user account logins on your Mac? Or from your user account? It's only showing one user account.
Let's do a search of your whole Mac, including all user accounts, for The Sims 4 and see what comes up - Open Terminal (Applications > Utilitites) and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:
find / -type d -name "*The Sims 4*" 2>/dev/null
It may take a while as it is looking everywhere. Once it has returned all the results please copy and paste them here. Feel free to change the usernames of the Mac user accounts if you don't want them showing but please keep them consistent 🙂

Thanks. Unfortunately it hasn't picked up results from the other user accounts (I think I probably have my permissions set up differently). Do the same on their accounts. This is what you're looking for:
/Users/mickeymouse/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4
That is where the game stores the saves and other user data too. You seem to be running Legacy Edition so the game will instead store the data here:
/Users/mickeymouse/Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 Legacy Edition
but in their own user accounts. If you don't get returned results then maybe they are using yours?
