Can my mac run sims 3 pets?

I have a MacBook Pro 15" from 2011 with OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.3. It has a 2,2 GHz Intel Core i7 prosessor and 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 memory. The startdisk is a Macintosh HD and the Graphic is Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB. It has 431,76 GB free space (right now).

I wonder if I can run The Sims 3 and The Sims 3 Pets safely on the computer without destroying it. I have had some problems with the computer getting extremely hot when I watch movies on Viaplay and Netflix, and sometimes the screen freezes.

I'm asking because I destroyed three other PCs (HP PC) some years ago, and I don't want to take a risk with my Mac.

I'm only asking this because I really miss playing Sims...

Unfortunately, I can't afford a new computer and if I break the Mac I have now, I will not get a new one.

Hope for answer soon!

    Your Mac also has an AMD 6750 512Mb graphics card which it will switch to when you launch the game. You should be fine to play but may want to upgrade your RAM. You could go up to 8Gb or even 16Gb RAM. Sims 3 has horrendous memory issues, you need to purge RAM regularly during gameplay to avoid crashing.

    Make sure your Mac is elevated so air can circulate underneath. Never play on a bed/cushion/duvet etc. You could buy a cooling mat of some kind too but you should be fine with it just elevated. If you have fitted a plastic casing to your Mac to protect the aluminium body remove it from the base, the screen one is fine though.

    How can I upgrade the RAM? Can I do that in a shop that sells Macs?

    I usually sit in the kitchen when I'm using my Mac and have the computer on the table. When I'm using it in the bed, I have a book under, it's never in contact with the sheets. I have checked it for dust in the fan, but the man in the shop told me there weren't any dust in there.

    Thanks for answering, btw 🙂

    @swcg98

    You're welcome 🙂

    You can upgrade the RAM yourself or get someone to do it for you. They won't do it in the Apple store though. You need to go to an Apple Authorised Service Centre or Apple Premium Reseller. It's very easy to do yourself, you just need the right fit screwdriver for the screws on the bottom casing and the RAM. You must be careful doing it though. Apple have a guide here - https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201165

    You can buy the RAM on Amazon. I always use Kingston RAM, it's never let me down.

    When you take the bottom casing off you could blow out any dust and fluff (there will be some) using compressed air.
