Cannot find Sims 4 folder

Hello,

This month update changing Origin into EA app happened automatically on my MacBook Air. Ever since that, when I try to search electronic arts folder and the Sims 4 folder, they simply do not exist anymore and there is only the EA app. Due to that I cannot find my mods, and also I cannot add any new ones to the game. It is really problematic and frustrating. I have 0 idea how to fix it and what to do. I would reeeeeaaaaaly appreciate any help or tips. Thankuuuu all

  • @12345678monik Here's how to see where the game is looking for your user folder, which contains Saves, Mods, etc.: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/ . This might help with locating that spot: Mac-specific: https://bluebellflora.com/2021/10/17/using-terminal-to-locate-your-sims-4-files-and-folders/. Searching for names of files that should be in those folders, rather than folder names, might be helpful if just seeing the location patch from the Main Menu > Load doesn't give you enough info.

Moved your post to the Mac forum for specific Mac troubleshooting.

Your game will not be loading files from any other location other than Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. You've either been moving files and folders around on your Mac which users, myself included, sometimes do and forget they've moved them when they next play, or your iCloud setup is interfering with the Documents folder. iCloud is the usual culprit, see this thread - https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mac/READ-FIRST-Saves-CC-Mods-or-Library-items-disappeared-iCloud/m-p/10242133

Don't ever bother doing a Finder/Spotlight search for the Sims 4 folder and its contents. If it is within the Electronic Arts folder, in Documents where it should be, it is hidden from a search in macOS. This begs the questions as to why your saves etc. aren't loading.

Forgetting Mods at the moment because it's not relevant as none of your user data is loading, please do the following Terminal search:

Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities) and copy and paste the following command then hit Enter/Return:

    find ~ -type d -name "*The Sims 4*" 2>/dev/null

After a little while it will return the results of the search. You'll know when it's finished searching because the command prompt will reappear. Please copy and paste the results in a post here.

After you have completed that search, please run the following search command:

    find / -type f -name "*Slot_*" 2>/dev/null

and then also copy/paste that result here.
