Solved

Crashing Issue

My game was working normally yesterday (playing offline) and I decided to go ahead and update today to the latest patch. Now, the game will not open at all with a "initialization error at start" message.

I have tried removing all mods. Visiting the activity monitor app and removing anything EA or Sims related, and I have tried repairing the game.

Nothing works .

    Hello !
I got some advice from a windows player who said they used “Task Manager/Monitor” and quit anything EA or sims related , and their game started to work after that.

Since im on mac , activity monitor is the equivalent. But that solution did not work for me.

Activity Monitor is part of the Mac equivalent but not entirely and macOS performs differently to Windows including how and where games are installed and how the OS handles them. No residual Sims 4 processes would be running if you had already quit the game. If you could not quit the game then you use Force Quit under the Apple menu which kills all processes.

How did you get on with the clean folder? Can you also post a screenshot of the full error message please.

    That makes sense !
Update : My game now works , i ended up having to delete and re-install the EA app .
Then , delete and re-install the sims 4 app.
Then , repair the game due to my mods not showing up after all of that.
Now, my game opened and works perfectly fine. The save i had been playing on was messed up and had to be deleted but the others were fine.

i gave this same advice to another mac player having the same issue , and their game started to work as well. So , maybe that is a solution ?
