Can't connect to server, Mac

So a year ago I was able to play Sims 3 on my macbook pro with no problems besides the usual issues that come with gaming on a mac. Now, when I go to load it, it shows the sims icon on a blue background and says that it is having trouble connecting to the server. As my internet has no issues right now and I have gotten rid of almost everything I can and spent days looking at help sites to no avail, I just really need someone anyone to all me what to do.
