It's a MacBook Pro (mid 2012)
it's running on macOS Sierra (Version 10.12.1)
Processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4 GB 1600 MHz
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 512 MB
Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB
I do have spotify on my MacBook but it never has seemed to cause a problem with my game before.
My roommate also recently downloaded Maleware to see if a virus was causing the problem. It found 1 virus and we removed it but it still doesn't work.

Uninstall everything from the Mac. Download and install The Sims 3 via Origin and, right after doing that, install The Sims 1.67 Super Patch manually, you can get it here: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/549552/official-ea-download-links-for-the-sims-3-cumulative-manual-update
After doing that, please install the expansion packs and stuff packs following this installation order (ignore packs you don't own/don't want to install)
