Urgh ☹️ Where were you adding an apartment from? Have you moved any of the contents of your previous Sims 4 folder into the new one?
Is there a lastCrash file in the Sims 4 folder? If so, could you copy/paste it here please. The most recent one. @Bluebellflora I was adding an apartment from the gallery. It was a completely new ‘the sims 4’ folder.

Thanks! Is it crashing at any other time? The Gallery is still horribly buggy despite numerous updates from EA. Try changing your avatar and see if that helps. We have a 34 page thread here on Gallery/Mac crashing https://answers.ea.com/t5/Technical-Issues-Mac/-Sims-4-keeps-crashing-when-accessing-the-Gallery/td-p/8027593 - @Bluebellflora Yes, sometimes it crashes/freezes in CAS, and in build/live mode. I found the game takes longer to crash when i play with origin offline. Could this be the issue?

Could you try a different internet connection too? - @Bluebellflora So far with vsync enabled and playing offline with origin, the issue seems to be resolved. I don’t want to speak too soon though. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

@Bluebellflora I thought the issue was resolved but it’s not, even with vsync enabled and playing offline the game still completely freezes the whole laptop within about 30 minutes of play, any suggestions?

☹️ is this happening in fullscreen or windowed mode, or both? Please test both if you haven't already. If it happens in windowed mode, can you click on the desktop (make sure the game window is not filling the whole screen) and then go to Apple > Force Quit rather than hard shutdown your Mac?
Is your Mac getting really hot when you play and if so, what surface do you have it on? The silicon Macs run a lot cooler but air still needs to circulate underneath.
Which version of macOS are you running? It is happening in fullscreen mode, my Mac is on a laptop stand that has ample space for ventilation. I would say my computer gets warm when playing, but never really hot.

Can you turn off game mode and see if it makes a difference? 3 finger swipe to the right and the normal desktop should show. Click the game controller icon in the menu bar and turn it off. @Bluebellflora I’m having a bit of trouble with game mode since the new update. It is only sometimes accessible when I launch The Sims 4. Sometimes the notification will pop up in the top right of my screen, other times nothing at all.
I have been looking for a manual way in settings to access game mode/ disable and enable it, but haven’t found a way as of yet.do you think the introduction of ‘game mode’ in Sonoma could be the issue?

I have wondered but there hasn’t been a massive surge of reports which would be expected if it was a real issue affecting all users running Sonoma. If you turn it off like I suggested it should then stay off every time you launch the game in fullscreen. But you need to test this. You should also play for a while, multiple times, in windowed mode (which the game looks and performs much better in IMHO) to see if it still crashes.
I have tested game mode on my M1 Mac and not had any crashing. @Bluebellflora Ok thanks i will try that
@Bluebellflora Hi there, it turns out the issue was playing in fullscreen mode. Thanks for helping me find the culprit! I always play via hdmi cable on a Samsung tv via my MacBook 16” m1. Do you have any idea what setting could make the game playable in fullscreen, or do i just have to play in windowed mode for now? Thanks again!

Oh that's really helpful to know, thank you! Could you test without the external display and see if it happens in fullscreen with game mode on using the in-built display?
What size screen is your TV? When the native silicon version of the game was released Mac mini users with 24” displays had crashing/freezing problems. I wonder if it’s somehow related. @Bluebellflora i will give it a try,
