My issue was that the game would crash the moment I launched, but I was able to fix it by following this:

I was able to switch my Mod, Saves and Trays folders to the new general Sims folder. And my game launches properly now without the crashing. I have a ss of what's left over in my old games folder, since Iwasn't sure what was causing the crash.
