Game Freezing and unable to save

I am experiencing an issue where my game will stop working after interacting with an infant. I am unable to change characters, cancel an action, or save the game. If I try exiting the game, the rainbow wheel spins and I am forced to 'Force Quit.' I've tried playing without using cheats/mods, but it doesn't help any; the game still freezes. At this point I don't know if it's only freezing because I am interacting with a toddler/infant, or if there is something else going on. 

I've also tried repairing the game twice and that did not work.
