Game pauses after going into build mode and will not save or exit.

my game loads fine, but when I go into build mode and try to place flooring, it won't work. Then, after giving up on trying to place flooring I go back to live mode and the game will not come out of "paused." When I try to save and exit, or even just exit without saving the game either wont exit at all or goes into "save" endlessly. This is all since the game update of course..... 

I tried clearing the cache, repairng--didn't do anything. Any tips??
