Game won't launch

I was told by EA Help to make a post here to see if anyone in the community might be able to help with this issue.

I recently installed the game for the first time, but every time I try to open it, it will minimize the EA app, and then un-minimize it instead of launching the game.

I have tried multiple methods to remedy this:

  • Uninstalling and reinstalling
  • Repairing the game
  • Removing all mods and CC
  • Allowing full disk access
  • Made sure my firewall and antivirus applications were not blocking it in any way
  • Tried to open it without wi-fi as I read that it was an odd solution (unfortunately didn't work for me)

I'm really not sure why it's doing this, as this is a completely up to date mac, and only a couple of weeks old as well...

I allowed full disk access for the EA app itself, I then additionally added the sims 4 as well to see if that would work. Both of these are installed to my applications folder (Sims 4 within the EA games folder)

I have tried a complete clean as you suggested, but also I have not even been able to open the game even once since installation so there was nothing in these folders anyhow...

uhenishi Thanks. You say there was nothing in the folders. Was the Sims 4 folder recreated in the Documents > Electronic Arts folder when you attempted to launch the game?

Thanks. Could you post a screenshot of the contents of the newly created Sims 4 folder? Sometimes not all the required files and folders are created which can result in your issue.

uhenishi perfect, thanks! Trash the scratch folder in saves. The game creates that folder when it launches but then it auto deletes when the game is closed. It can sometimes interfere with the game subsequently relaunching.
