Help! Sims 4 freezes when saving on Mac

I just bought a new MacBook Air and am having an enormous amount of issues with The Sims 4.  It's been working the last day or so and now my game freezes when I try to save and doesn't save.  I have to force quit each time.

This is my first Mac so I am a very new user.

If anyone can help I would appreciate it.
