Unfortunately, the game auto-updated before I knew anything about this problem it would have? I can now not play the game at all!
How do I go about reverting the patch?

Hi @adamcollingbur, sorry to hear about that! I've updated the opening post with the following information to answer your question:
I use macOS Lion (10.7) and accidentally installed the October patch for The Sims 4. Is there anything I can do?
The Sims 4 Legacy Edition will support macOS Lion (10.7), please, read all the details here.
If you use a backup program such as the macOS “Time Machine” utility then you can use it to restore the prior version of The Sims 4 before the patch. Please, make sure to follow these steps carefully and seek help if needed as they can lead to undesirable outcomes when not done the right way.
Before restoring the prior version please make sure to disable “Automatic Updates” in the Origin client as explained below. Note that this will preserve any game-saves you have created.
Typical steps:
1. Disable automatic updates in the Origin client:Go to the "Origin" drop-down menu and select "Preferences"
In the "General" section, under "Updates," un-check the “Automatically keep my games up to date" option
2. Open the Time Machine application in your Applications folder
3. Navigate to the Applications folder within the Time Machine folder interface
4. Select the most recent backup prior to The Sims 4 update from the selection interface on the right side of the screen
5. Select the The Sims 4 application
6. Click the Restore button
7. If prompted specify that the existing application should be replaced by the version being restored
8. Exit Time Machine
The Sims 4 should now be able to be played.- 6 years ago@EA_Mai Thanks for the reply - unfortunately that machine doesn't have any sort of time machine backup.
I did try to uninstall, reboot but there was a required update. I then tried offline mode and it began to start but then produced an error saying the local files were written by a newer version of Sims so it couldn't be started.
Does this mean I have to wait for the legacy edition?- 6 years ago@adamcollingbur Can you update to a supported version of macOS? What model Mac do you have?
