Issues with picking up pets

Since the last two base game updates, I've been having an issue with any interactions that involve picking up pets. For example, if I want to do the "kiss" interaction with a cat or small dog, my sim will pick the animal up but then just freeze and can't run the interaction. They'll just stand there forever until I cancel the interaction and they put the animal down. Just yesterday, my sim was trying to adopt a kitten, and to do that the sim picks them up and hugs them and then you pick their name. But my sim couldn't adopt the kitten because it wouldn't run that interaction. My sim just picked it up and then nothing happened until I made my sim put them down. I don't know if it's just my game, but if not maybe there's a new bug or something.

Same thing's happening to me. I just purchased the Pets expansion pack this weekend because of the flash sale, only to figure out I can't adopt a pet (small dog or cat). My sim just stands frozen, not doing anything, while carrying the pet. I tried using the cheat code that adds the small dog to my household, and it worked. But I can't do any interaction with the dog that involves picking it up (bathing, kissing, hugging, etc.). I hope this gets fixed soon.
