I'm also experiencing this with my brand new Macbook Air M4. So the team doesn't have any update on this? If it's a widespread issue it means Mac users can't even play the game because mine is severely lagging...

Mac users can play but it's affecting lower spec machines, typically MacBook Airs. Higher end MacBook Pro Mx Pro and Mx Max chips seem to not be as affected due to the more powerful chips used. But I agree this shouldn't be so bad for some users and EA should fix it.
